Abstract
This chapter explores the potential of youth and development challenges that lie ahead in Bangladesh. Youth are the most viable and potential human resources, not only in terms of population structure, but also for social structure. A country cannot achieve its intended sustainable development goals unless its youth are properly employed and developed holistically. Relying on secondary sources, this chapter reviewed the most important challenges faced by the Bangladeshi youth today. The author argued that the Bangladeshi youth are now increasingly facing several social problems which include lack of skills, quality education and training, lack of cultural movement, poverty, and corruption. In his opinion, realizing the population dividend, ensuring sustainable gender equality, and decent work environment could be a far cry if the critical challenges ahead of Bangladeshi youth are not addressed.
